Hawthorn Dene is a traditional croft holiday cottage in Torrin, near Broadford on the Isle of Skye, ideal for a tranquil getaway for up to 4 people and 2 dogs.
The cottage is surrounded by stunning countryside and Cuillin mountain views and lies within a large and secure dog-friendly garden. The traditional Skye white detached 1½-storey croft house has a homely, country feel. Torrin lies on the shores of Loch Slapin and is overlooked by the mighty Blà Bheinn or Blaven ‘blue mountain’.
The cosy sitting room, has a wood-burning stove; twin sofas and a large smart TV with multi-channel FreeSat reception and access to your favourite on-demand streaming services. A Starlink satellite receiver provides fast and reliable internet access for the TV and your own digital devices.
The spacious kitchen is very well equipped with all the necessities you need for your stay in this remote location, including an oven, hob, microwave and washing machine. There is ample room for storing supplies in the fridge/freezer and cupboards. Sorry, there is no dishwasher.
The family dining room is a highlight of the cottage with a large dining table, seating four in comfort and a feature stone fireplace. Ideal for a lazy breakfast, relaxed lunch or evening meal.
Up the narrow traditional wooden staircase are two charming bedrooms (one double, one twin), enclosed with snug sloped ceilings, countryside views and ample storage.
The upstairs family bathroom enjoys superb views over the garden and adjacent fields up to the Red Cuillin hills of Beinn Dearg Mhor and Beinn Dearg Bheag and offers a choice of a relaxing bath or power shower.
The large enclosed garden is a lovely spot to breathe in the fresh air, and take a minute for yourself surrounded by the still ether of nature. It’s also perfect place to let your dog safely off the leash.
Torrin is a quiet crofting village on the Isle of Skye. Just a short walk away are Amy’s Place tearoom and gifts and Mrs Mack’s Wee Take-Away.
Just over 5 miles distant is the village of Broadford, where you can access a large Co-op supermarket, post office, public transport, pubs, restaurants, and cafes, many of which source fresh, local seafood. The nearest electric car charging point is also in Broadford. Faster charging is available in Kyleakin.
The Isle of Skye is home to amazing opportunities that you cannot miss, climb nearby Blaven and other Cuillin mountains, swim in Torrin Pools, take a boat trip from Elgol over to Loch Coruisk or discover Armadale Castle & Gardens.
